The SGP30 is a digital air quality sensor from Sensirion that measures indoor air quality.
It detects total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) and equivalent CO₂ (eCO₂) levels, using a metal-oxide
sensor. Designed for long-term stability and fast response, it communicates via I²C and integrates a
humidity-compensated baseline correction. The SGP30 is ideal for smart home devices, air purifiers,
and HVAC systems.
The eCO2 value is calculated based on the H2 concentration and is therefore
not a true CO2 sensor for laboratory use.
Although the sensor provides usable results after about 15 seconds, the manufacturer recommends
using the sensor productively only after 24 hours of operation.
According to my measurements, the sensor board continuously consumes about 45mA, which should be
taken into account, especially in projects with other sensors and components.
